OLIVER GOLDSMITH was born, probably at Smith-Hill House, Elphin, Roscommon, Ireland, in Soon after his birth his family moved to Kilkenny West, where Oliver first went to school. At the age of nine he left the little school at Kilkenny, and attended several academies.

PREFATORY NOTE This volume is a reprint, extended and revised, of the Selected Poems of Goldsmith issued by the Clarendon Press in It is 'extended,' because it now contains the whole of Goldsmith's poetry: it is 'revised' because, besides the supplementary text, a good deal has been added in the way of annotation and illustration. Oliver Goldsmith, Irish novelist, playwright and poet, who is best known for his novel The Vicar of Wakefield (), his pastoral poem The Deserted Village (), and his plays The Good-Natur'd Man () and She Stoops to Conquer (, first performed in ).Brand: Anboco.

  Originally published in as part of the Cambridge Plain Texts series, this volume contains the full version of The Good-Natur'd Man, a comedic play by Anglo-Irish writer Oliver Goldsmith (). A short editorial introduction is also included.
